Writing has been a very big part of my life. I took a lot of writing classes in high school where I was able to express how I felt in a fictional way or in a way that disassociated what was happening with me. Julie Brandel was and still is a big inspiration in my writing. She was my English teacher throughout high school and the first person I opened up to about my struggles with mental health. She taught me me how to express myself in a way that was good for me without actually having to write about me, personally. My writing has been more personal now in college but I still hold those stories close to me because they started my love of writing and drawing as a way of therapy.
